If you have recently found out that you are pregnant, and are in shock, or just don’t know what to do next, please get in touch. You may be considering some of these options – continuing the pregnancy, having an abortion or seeking adoption. If you feel anxious, scared, or unsure, come and talk it through with us. If you are looking for advice, support or counselling at any stage of pregnancy, we may be able to help. We offer individual sessions with a volunteer trained in counselling skills, who will help you to look at all the options and to find your best way forward.
After an abortion
After an abortion it is common to have feelings of sadness, loss, anger, and sometimes regret. It can be difficult to find someone to talk to who understands what you are going through. At NPCC we believe that, even if the abortion was your choice, it is still a loss and a bereavement. If you are looking for counselling or support after an abortion, please contact us. We can offer one-to-one sessions with a support worker. If your abortion was more than 6 months ago, it may be helpful to work through a structured programme which explores the various emotions that can follow a termination and helps you to deal with these.
If you have experienced a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or stillbirth, you may be looking for someone to talk to. Friends may not know of your loss, or may not understand what you are going through. We have support workers trained to listen, support and help you deal with the mixture of emotions you may be feeling. Do get in touch with NPCC rather than feeling alone.
